<Question>

While listening to last Sunday’s message on missions, what part resonated with you the most?

<Diaspora>

Personally, one of my pastoral goals is for each and every member of our congregation to see their daily lives as a mission field, living as missionaries in various ways. After delivering last Sunday’s message, what remained deeply in my heart was <M4 Diaspora Missions.> The word “diaspora” lingered in my mind, leaving a profound impression on me.

<Greenlanders>

At the same time, I came to a deeper realization of how precious and significant our Greenlanders are here in New Hampshire. As I look at the increasingly secularized American society and the declining churches, my heart aches. However, I believe that our Greenlanders are the ones who can see through God’s eyes, feel with His heart, and serve as the hands and feet of Jesus in this land.

<Deep-Rooted Tree>

It has now been seven months since I was appointed to Greenland. Week by week, month by month, I have come to witness the deeply planted seeds of the Gospel and the firm spiritual roots within the Greenlanders. Even when storms rage and strong winds blow, these roots hold firm, enduring the seasons of life—spring, summer, fall, and winter—until they finally bloom and bear fruit. I was reminded of the phrase: “A deeply rooted tree does not fall and its leaf does not wither (Psalm 1:3).”

<God's Calling>

In particular, I see in our Greenlanders a unique Korean spirituality, a passionate faith, and a deep understanding of American society. With a burning heart for God’s mission, I believe we can stand as God’s people, carrying out God’s work in this spiritually barren land. If our Greenlanders resonate with and respond to this calling, I believe it may very well be God’s purpose for us.

<Faithful Worshipper>

This coming Sunday (2/16), there is a high chance that our service will be held online due to the weather. Regardless of the circumstances, whether in person or online, I encourage you to join as a faithful worshiper whom God is seeking. In difficult times, may we experience the grace of hearing God's voice even more powerfully, and may we find strength in His presence.

I pray that you will encounter His Word in a way that strengthens and sustains you. Amen!

사랑하는 그린랜더스에게,

지난 주일에 선교에 관해 이야기를 들으면서 어떤 부분이 가장 많이 마음에 남으셨나요?

<저는 개인적으로 제 목회의 목표중의 하나가 제가 섬기는 성도님들 한 분 한 분이 매일 매일 일상에서 선교지를 바라보고 선교사의 마음으로 다양한 방법으로 선교를 하며 살아가는 것입니다. 그런데 지난 주에 말씀을 전한 후에 제 마음에 특별히 강하게 남았던 선교는 M4 <디아스포라선교> 였습니다. <디아스포라> 라는 단어가 제 마음에 깊이 남아 머리속에 맴돌았습니다.

더불어 뉴햄프셔에 있는 우리 <그린랜더스>가 얼마나 소중하고 중요한 존재인지를 더 깊이 깨닫게 되었습니다. 세속화되어 하나님과 점점 더 멀어져가는 미국사회와 죽어가는 미국교회들을 안타깝게 여기며 하나님의 눈으로 보고 하나님의 마음으로 느끼며 예수님의 손과 발이 되어 섬길 수 있는 사람들이 우리 <그린랜더스> 라는 생각을 했기 때문입니다.

제가 그린랜드에 부임한지 이제 7개월이 되어갑니다. 한 주 한 주, 한 달 한 달 지나면서 제가 느끼는 것은 그린랜더스안에 깊게 심겨진 복음의 씨앗과 깊게 내려진 영적인 뿌리입니다. 비바람이 몰아쳐도 흔들려도 넘어지지 않으며, 인생의 봄, 여름, 가을, 겨울와도 거뜬히 견뎌내어 꽃와 열매를 맺는 <뿌리깊은 나무>라는 생각이 들었습니다.

특별히, 한국적인 독특한 영성과 열정적인 믿음을 지니고, 미국사회를 깊이 이해하며, 하나님의 선교를 향한 열정을 가지고 있는 사람들로서 이 황폐한 미국땅에서 하나님의 사람으로 하나님의 사람다운 일들을 감당할 수 있겠다는 생각을 하게 되었습니다. 우리 그린랜더스들이 이 부르심에 공감하고 응답한다면 이것이 그린랜더스들을 향한 하나님의 부르심이 될 수도 있겠다는 생각을 하게 되었습니다.

오는 주일(2/16)도 날씨때문에 온라인으로 드리게 될 가능성이 높아보입니다. 날씨와 상관없이, 온라인이던 오프라인이던 하나님께서 찾으신 한 사람의 신실한 예배자로 주일예배에 참여하실 수 있기를 바랍니다. 어려운 시기를 지날 때에 우리에게 필요한 말씀을 더욱 강하게 말씀하시는 하나님을 경험하는 은혜를 누리시기를 소망하며 기도합니다.
